Bev Lowe prefers spending all her money on food. So the Manna Industries founder was thrilled to get a pile of gear for her volunteers to wear from a Claremont business. Last year Bev applied to the Fully Promoted group of embroidery and promotional products stores. The group was offering more than $25,000 in promotional gear to not-for-profit groups. Bev sent in her application to the Fully Promoted franchise in Claremont, on Stirling Highway, and hoped for the best. She was delighted to learn this week that she had scored $3,000 worth of goodies. They gave us 103 caps, 50 aprons and 170 T-Shirts, she said. Were very grateful and could never have afforded to get all this done. Bev and her husband John started Manna 14 years ago when they saw a group of homeless people in an inner-city park. Lets go home and make some soup for them, Bev said to John. Now they have 200 volunteers who help feed more than 2,000 people per week. We serve it in the city, but people come from all over Perth, she said. Its the only place they can get a decent, free, three-course meal. Fully Promoted Claremont co-owner Elizabeth Bain said she was delighted Manna were now fully kitted out. They are really deserving they go the highest contribution of any not-for-profit across the country, she said. More than 40 grants were given nationally five of those, including Mannas, were from the Claremont store. Were looking forward to doing it again this year, she said.
